The process of creating my front cover took quite along time. In order for me to create the desired affect that i wanted i had to spend time trying out different creative techniques and also making sure that what i created followed the codes and conventions of exsisting magazines of similar genres. So below i have the final front cover that i have created using photoshop as the design package for putting everything together on.

For the final part of the creation i added a barcode to the front cover to give it that overall feel of actually being a product that can be bought. Along with the barcode i added a price at 2.99 which i felt was a reasonable price and was similar to many other magazines that are of similar style. I also added more text on the right hand side to give it more of magazine and the general codes and conventions of other magazines such as NME show that they use a fair amount of text to give information about featured articles to the reader.

The fourth part of my creation was adding more writing down the right hand side of the magazine. By doing this it tells the reader what is featured inside my magazine it also follows the typical codes and conventions of a magazine therefore hopefully making it more appealing for a reader to buy. It breaks away from the idea that there are quite a few images on the page and gives the reader abit more detail and information rather than keeping it to vague and simple with just the images.

This third step of my magazine was where i added a third image to the front and also began putting text down the right hand side. From when i analysed other magazine front covers such as NME i noticed that a typical convention was to have the text either down the right hand side or the left rather than having it randomly placed anywhere so this is why i chose to put it down the right hand side. Also by layering a third image on top i thought it brought away the attention from the fact i had two of the same person on the front. It also breaks up the main image as it makes it seem less vast and gives the reader something else to draw their attention too. By using black and white it makes it stand out more on the coloured photo underneath and even out the way in which i have two coloured images and two black and white rather than everything looking too much the same.

This was then the next step for my magazine. I chose to add a couple of pictures as following a magazines general codes and conventions they have a couple of smaller images on the front of the magazine aswell as the one large one which takes up the main part of the front cover. The smaller images are layered on top and mine are people that are featured inside the magazine. Although i decided to challenge the codes and conventions slightly because i chose to put a picture of Evie to the left hand side as well as just having the main image. I chose to do this to add emphasis on the fact that she will be the main feature in the magazine hopefully attracting the audience towards buying it.

This was step one of putting together my magazine. For this i chose to use a single image of Evie from Evie and the apples this was because of the way in which the article for my double page spread was going to be about just her and the way she was leaving the group. So i felt to fit in with the codes and conventions that i should i should use this image as it shows how she is on her own and looking at the audience of the magazine with a blank and simple expression.
The font that i chose to use throughout my magazine was found on photoshop its called Capture it. I chose to use this font because i felt that it fits in with the theme i wanted something that looked edgy and indie style. The masthead of the magazine was put in the top right hand corner because this follows general codes and conventions of a magazine as the majority of mastheads are situated in this position.
